Eval and Management of CMD in SCI
should be evaluated for CMD risk upon discharge IPR
should be re-evaluated for RF every three years
Measuring intensity in SCI patients
BORG RPE should be used in injuries above T6 due to decreased regulation of HR
Strength training precautions
avoid IR when >90 of abduction or overhead to limit shoudler impingement
Stretching training precautions
use caution with leg stretching due to risk of fx with osteoporosis
Pts with neuro diseases are
more likely to be inactive than their peers w/out neuro dx
at a higher risk for health conditions related to inactivity
Why should PT be continued to be prescribed after IPR?
helps reduce risk of future injury
can perform reassessment to determine progression or decline
exercise helps improve quality of life
