L10 Recovery Plan Flashcards
Prognosis
prognosis of recovery increases if you observe early recovery of motor function
important to regularly reassess the patient for emergence of improving strength with ASIA and MMT
Recovery Training Tips
-simultaneous skill leaning
-demonstrate and explain
-do not give up on training if they fail
-principle of neuroplasticity, dose of exercise, and motor learning all apply
-Do a movement analysis for failures
Optimal motor learning theory
patient goals drive selection of intervention
enhanced expectancy of recovery
external focused feedback (tactile cues, verbal cues, visual cues)
Transfers for ASIA C or D
select appropriate technique
ADs or orthotics
incorporate tx to address impairments in transfer
use facilitation, feedback, variability
use repetition, intensity, connect the importance
Locomotor CPG for SCI –moderate to high intensity walking training following acute onset CNS injury
Clinicians SHOULD do this after 6 months post injury
limited evidence with SCI
Locomotor CPG for SCI–body weight supported treadmill training following acute onset CNS injury
clinicians SHOULD NOT perform body weight treadmill training
limited evidence w/SCI
Locomotor CPG for SCI–Robotic assisted walking training following acute onset CNS injury
Clinicians should NOT perform this
lots of evidence w/ SCI individuals
