The thoracic duct

What is the name of the lymphatic drainage of the GI tract?
It is drained by the cysterna chyli
What does MALT stand for?
Mucosa associated lymphoid tissue
What MALT tissues are there?
Tonsils, Peyer patches (small intestine) and appendix
What is the purpose of the blood-thymus barrier?
It seperates t cells from the blood in the cortex of the thymus. This provides a sequested environment for t cells to develop in and prevents them from coming into contact with foreign antigens.
How can you survive after a splenectomy?
Most of its functions can be assumed by other organs e.g. bone marrow and liver
