L1-Anat Flashcards
What is the function of the URINARY SYSTEM
• Elimination of waste products of metabolism as urine.
• Controlling water and electrolyte balance in the body.
• Maintaining acid–base balance of the blood.
Kidney structure
The kidneys are two Reddish brown, bean-shaped structures.
Sit of kidney
In abdomen not in Pelvis 🌟(on the posterior abdominal wall)
Located high up on posterior abdominal wall
on each side of vertebral column,
from level of T12 to L3.
R&LKidney in the same level? why?
Right kidney (down)
The liver on the right side of the abdomen puts pressure on the right kidney.
Kidney and ureter are…
•They are 🌟Retroperitoneal
اللي يميزه ثبات الأعضاء ومنع حركتها
during respiration.
•They move downward vertically with diaphragm contraction
Ther is 2 ends / poles
The upper pole is…
closer to the midline than the lower pole.
Talk about the two surfaces:
Anterior; rough
• Posterior; smooth
بسبب الstructure اللي موجوده بكل من الجهتين
2 borders
Medial is convex and have hilum
Lateral is convex
What is the helium
هو المكان اللي في الorgan اللي الstructure تدخل وتطلع منو
In kidney it Lies on the medial border & it extends into a large cavity called the renal sinus.
What are the structures passed from helium of kidney
🌟From anterior →posterior
(VAP+A)
•Renal vein
•Renal artery (2 branches )
•Renal pelvis and ureter
•Renal artery (3rd branch)
What are the Coverings of the kidney from the most adherent
-Renal fibrous capsule(surrounds the kidney)
-Peri-renal fat( fat around kidney،its vessels & suprarenal gland.)
-Renal fascial capsule OR renal fascia(outer layer of condensed connective tissue continuous laterally with ‘fascia transversalis*،enclose the peri-renal fat, kidney & its suprarenal gland.)
Para-renal fat(retroperitoneal fat) : outermost layer (A part of retroperitoneal fat)
Internal Structure of the kidney divided into:
-Renal cortex (peripheral): outer thin layer makes (renal column)> extends in between the pyramid(شكلها قبه)
-Renal medulla:contain pyramids (5-11pyramids) its base toward the surface of the kidney and apex toward the inner of it
-Renal pelvic: area of upper extended part of the ureter
The apex of each pyramids called
papilla :opens and drainage in canal like structure called minor
calyces, and each 2-3 minor
calyces collected together to make major
calyces
What are the sinus and lobe
Renal Sinus > حتة الpelvic
🌟Renal Lob > pyramid + its covering cortex
Renal sinus
A space within ‘hilum, contains the renal pelvis & calyces.
Renal lobe
Each renal pyramid with its covering cortex.
Each kidney have ONE same anterior relation which is?
suprarenal gland
Anterior relations of R&L kidneys
R: R suprarenal gland, liver, duodenum, Right / hepatic colic flexure(ascending colon then it transverse)
L: •L suprarenal gland, Spleen, Stomach, Pancreas (tail), Jejunum, Coils of small intestine part of it which is the Jejunum, Left / splenic colic flexure (descending colon)
Posterior relations of both kidneys
Costo-diaphragmatic recess of ‘pleura.
Diaphragm
Muscles of the posterior abdominal wall ((Psoas major,Quadratus lumborum,Transversus abdominis))
🌟Nerves :(run downward & laterally betweenthe muscles & the kidney.)
-Subcostal n.,
-Iliohypogastric n.,
-Ilioinguinal n.
Left kidney rids
11th,12th
Right kidney rib
Last one (12th)
Blood Supply of the kidney
Renal artery”big one” (arise from abdominal aorta at the level of L2)
