KV ERJ Electric Panel (6) Flashcards

1
Q

When do the amber IDG lights illuminate?

A

1) “HOTLOP” – Hot Oil Temperature / Low Oil Pressure.
2) IDG oil pressure drops below 140 psi ± 25 psi,
3) or the oil temperature 335°F ± 10°F (168°C ± 5°C),
4) EICAS message IDG 1(2) OIL is displayed
5) amber LED illuminates near the IDG selector knob

Q

With the GPU switch pushed in and reading “AVAIL” what buses are being powered?

A

AVAIL Means that the GPU is not providing power to the aircraft yet, if we assume we are in the Safety and Power Up Check - list. Essentially we are in Batt only DC power and essentially EMERGENCY ELECTRICAL Power The only systems functioning a this time will be:

1) HOT BAT BUS1/2
2) DC BUS 1/2
3) AC ESS BUS
4) DC ESS BUS 1/2/3
5) AC STBY BUS

If GPU is IN USE
The AC GPU can supply power to all AC BUSES.
(AOM V2 14-05-10.1)
The DC BUSES are also powered through the use of TRUs.

Q

Why is the switch position for Battery 2 labeled “AUTO” instead of “ON”?

A

During the APU starting cycle, BATT 2 is isolated from the network, powering the APU START BUS exclusively.

Q

If Battery 2 is inoperative, is there any way to start the APU?

A

Yes.

1) A DC GPU is used to start the APU when the #2 battery is no longer available
1. a) or the battery temperature is below -20°C.

Note… The DC GPU supplies between 24 VDC – 32VDC.
