Lachman test
Tests ACL & popliteus
Knee flex 20-30 degrees, pull along translation plane
One hand holds/stabilizes femur while other hand is behind knee and puts forward stress on ACL
Anterior drawer test
Tests ACL and MCL Supine Hip 45 knee 90 Foot neutral Sit on their foot
Post. Drawer test
PCL
Hip 45 knee 90
Posterior sag test
Same as drawer positions
Look for excessive post translation
Godfrey’s test
Same as drawer positions
Look for post displacement of tibial tuberosities
Slocum’s for anteromedial instability
Tests AM & AL
ER tibia 15 degrees and same as anterior drawer
Crossover test for AM instability
Weight on involved limb
Step behind involved limb with uninvolved leg and torso rotates same direction ur stepping
Slocums for anterolateral instability
Ant. Drawer in 30 degrees of IR
Crossover for anterolateral instability
Weight on inv. limb
Step in front and across with uninvolved limb
Look for pain, instability or apprehension
Posterior lat drawer
Same as drawer but with ER
McMurrays for medial and lat meniscus tear
For medial- ER and valgus force
For lateral- IR and varus force
Look for clicking, popping, or locking
Applets compression/distraction test for meniscal tears
Compression- for medial and lat meniscus
Distraction- ligaments
It’s positive if pain is produced during compression and eliminated during distraction
O’Donohues test
Flex knee to 90
IR & ER
Move to full flex and IR & ER
Positive if increased pain at one or. Both positions
