descent group
a large group of people who descended from same ancestor, larger than extended family since it includes generations with living members but also generations with no living members
lineage
a descent group based on demonstrated descent from a common original ancestor, chain of descent is known
patrilineage
forming ancestor is male, descent traced through paternal line, usually associated with patrilocality, political positions or property are passed down from a man to his kids, and from a woman to her bothers kids
