NUCLEAR FAMILY

in the children’s upbringing. This
may or may not include those
relatives living with the children.

also known
as a blended family or stepfamily,
is formed when one or both parents
remarry or enter into a new
partnership after a previous
separation or divorce. This can
result in the blending of children
from previous relationships into a
new family structure
RECONSTITUTED FAMILY
refer to
situations where parents live apart,
either due to separation, divorce, or
other reasons. In these cases,
children may divide their time
between both parents’ households
or primarily reside with one parent
while visiting the other.
SEPARATED FAMILY
These families live in more than
one country. They may spend
part of each year in their country
of origin returning to the U.S. on
a regular basis. The child may
spend time being cared for by
different family members in each
country
TRANSNATIONAL FAMILY
likely refers to political systems where
power is concentrated within a particular
family or group of closely related
individuals. This is often associated with
monarchies or authoritarian regimes.
POLITICS OF KINSHIP
refer to agreements or partnerships
between different political groups, parties,
or individuals to achieve common political
goals. These alliances can be temporary or
long-term and are a common feature of
democratic and multiparty systems.
