What are the three determinants of self-efficacy
- Mastery/Personal experience
- achieved when people experience success at performing at least portions of a task
- progressive mastery is achieved by breaking down difficult tasks into small easy steps - Vicarious Experience (observe others, role-modeling)
- where successes/failures of others can impact self-efficacy
- learning from others who are trying to perform the same task - Verbal Persuasion
- verbal feedback / positive self talk to raise self efficacy
Intrinsic Motivation
Internl drive to do something out of interest or enjoyment in exercise itself
Extrinsic Motivation
External drive, materialistic awards

Explain pre contemplation
- do not intake to take action within the next 6 months.
- unaware that their behaviour is problematic
Explain contemplation
- intending to START healthy behaviour within next 6 months
- recognize that their behaviour may be problematic but still reluctant to change their behaviour
Explain Preparation (Determination)
- Ready to take action within the next 30 days
- small steps/devise a plan
Explain Action
- recently changed their behaviour within the last 6 months
- intent to KEEP MOVING FORWARD with that behaviour change
