Define ‘Autocracy’
A system of government where one person has all the power.
Define ‘Revolution’
A violent mass movement of people where there is an overthrowing of the existing government and a new one is established.
Define ‘Abdication’
When a person of authority decides to step down from power.
Define ‘Constitution’
The rules and principles by which a country is run.
Define ‘Democracy’
A form of government where the majority of the people get a say in how the government is formed and or run.
Define ‘Political extremism’
Political extremism is when a person or a group of people have a viewpoint that is vastly different to what is currently being done in government.
Define ‘Putsch’
The German phrase which means uprising or revolution.
Define ‘Passive resistance’
When you fight back against something you don’t like/disagree with by using a non-violent tactic.
Define ‘Reperations’
A form of compensation where a country must repay another for damage to their economy or land.
Define ‘ Hyperinflation’
When the prices of goods becomes to expensive for people to afford due to their money now being worthless, this usually happens when countries print more banknotes during an economic crash.
Define ‘Economic reconstruction’
When a country’s economy is so bad beyond repair that a complete reconstruction is the only solution.
Define ‘Inflation’
When the amount of money something costs is substantially more than it’s worth/value.
Define ‘Dictatorship’
A system of government where a singular person has all the power.
Define ‘Depression’
If a country is going through ‘a depression’ its economy has pretty much collapsed.
Define ‘Persecution’
When someone is treated badly on the basis of who they are, not for something they’ve done.
