Independent variable
The variable you change in an investigation
Dependent variable
The variable you measure in an investigation
Control variables
The variables you keep the same in an investigation (minimum 3)
Random error
An unpredictable error which cannot be corrected
Median
Middle number in a set of data
Mode
Most common number in a set of data
Accurate
Results that are close to the true value
Precise
Results with very little spread
Repeatable
If a person repeats the experiment with the same results
Valid
If the results can answer the question (consider control variables and number of repeats)
Continuous data
Data measured on a number scale
Categoric data
Data recorded as words or categories
Anomaly
A result that does not follow the pattern or trend, so therefore does not count
