Key Planning Flashcards
Why should goals be set before starting a PDP
Gives each session specific focus - concentrate on weakness and select relevant approaches
Provides a motivation boost - train 100% effort and improve
Allows progress to be tracked - can evaluate PDP (if working confidence boost and set new goals to avoid plateau, if not working make adaptations)
Identify the 2 types of goals
Long term goal - set for the end of PDP and usually based on baseline score
Short term goal - set for end of each session or week and is a stepping stone to help you achieve long term goals

Why should training be specific
Training should be specific to the areas of your performances you identified as weaknesses. This means you won’t waste training time on working on things your already good at helping your overall performance to improve
Why should training be progressive
A PDP should gradually become more difficult to avoid hitting a plateau
Why should you overload training
Sessions should become more difficult by increasing the stress on the body. This can be achieved by increasing one of FIT
Why should training consider reversibility
Rest days should be incorporated into your PDP to avoid burn out and overtraining which could cause injury leading to any improvements being reversed
Why should training not be tedious
Boredom could occur if training isn’t varied or fun meaning a performer won’t try as hard
What are the 3 stages of learning
