Essay on population 1796. Feared poor law would lead to a famine as it encouraged the population to grow so much there wouldn’t be enough food
How did Jeremy Bentham influence the debate on poverty 1790-
Utalinitarinism. He wanted a national charity to deal with poor and create industry houses where in-door relief was given. Outdoor relief was stopped.

The rights of man 1792. Criticised poor law for its inability to function properly, urged reform to provide better support for the poor and wanted a land tax for it

He believed that the poor law should be abolished as it encouraged idleness and dependancy and was creating poverty as people were paid for doing nothing
