Essay on population 1796. Feared poor law would lead to a famine as it encouraged the population to grow so much there wouldn’t be enough food

Utalinitarinism. He wanted a national charity to deal with poor and create industry houses where in-door relief was given. Outdoor relief was stopped.

How did David Ricardo influence the debate about poverty 1790-

A

Principles of political economy and taxation 1817.’iron law of wages’- belived people should be paid money which related to the value of the goods they produced. He believed that the poor law should be abolished as it encouraged idleness and dependancy and was creating poverty as people were paid for doing nothing
