Power
The ability to effect, change, and or influence is seen as an aspect of relations among people functioning within a society rather than being viewed as a unitary or independent force
sovereignty
characteristics of state independence, its control over territory, and its ability to govern itself
Legitimacy
refers to actors or actions being commonly considered acceptable and providing a fundamental basis for exercising power over others
Human Rights
List of fundamental rights every person is entitled to inherently without discrimination.
Justice
concept of fair treatment, equality through law
Liberty
freedom and autonomy of individuals to live a life without excessive interference from those in power, and with freedom to reach full potential with opportunities
development
Sustained increase in the standard of living and well-being of a level of social organization. (improvement in the quality of life in addition to monetary development)
Equality
between people or groups in terms of having the same intrinsic value based on liberty and justice
globalisation
the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, perspectives, and concepts of culture
sustainability
the ability to meet the needs of the current generation without compromising the ability to meet the needs of future generations
peace
both absence of conflict or violence and the state of harmonious relations (negative and positive peace - John Galtung)
conflict
actual or perceived opposition between individuals or groups
violence
physical or physiological harm (anything someone does that prevents others from reaching their full potential)
nonviolence
the practice of advocating one’s own or others’ rights without physically harming the opponent
