What is social psychology?
Aspects of human behaviour that involve individual’s relationship to other people, groups, + society, including cultural influences + behaviour
What is the effect of interaction between individuals? (Key assumptions)
Individual’s behaviour can be influenced by those around them
E.g. If someone has more open body language, more likely to help them
What is the effect of being in groups within society? (Key assumptions)
People live in cultures + in groups within society, may be peer pressured
E.g Social class, friendships
What is the effect of the social situation? (Key assumptions)
The specific situation or context of environment you’re in can influence your behaviour
E.g. You’ll discuss diff topics in class compared to with friends
What is the effect of social roles? (Key assumptions)
People have roles in society that make us more/less likely to obey them
E.g. The police
What is obedience?
Following demands given by real or perceived authority figure
What is disobedience?
When someone refuses to follow demands given by perceived authority figure
What is dissent?
Desire to challenge social norms, can lead to or be the cause of disobedience
How is the holocaust linked to social psychology?
- Groups impacted because of authority figure’s views
- Anyone seen as dissenting is killed
- Nazis are obedient to Hitler
