what is kawasaki disease the most common cause of

who is kawasaki disease more common in

presentation
Conjunctivitis Rash Adenopathy (enlarged cervical lymph node) Strawberry tongue Hand and feet swelling Fever
investigations
- elevated and shifted to the left WCC
- raised ESR, CRP and PV
- raised LFTS
if untreated can cause
ischaemia of heart muscle, coronary aneurysm, myocardial infarction
management
aspirin and IV immunoglobulin and the influenza vaccine
why is the management of kawasaki disease so interesting
because its one of the only times you can ever use aspirin in children because of the risk of REYES SYNDROME
why is influenza vaccine used in management
because reyes syndrome classically occurs after viral infection
what does reyes syndrome cause
encephalopathy
