What was the primary aim of this study?

A

To determine if variations (grades) of CAA can be identified based on both histological and diagnostic imaging indices

Did the analysis identify a correlation between computed tomographic and histological appearance of the tumor?.

What where the 3 consistent findings on diagnostic imagine of the CAA tumors?

A

The only consistent diagnostic imaging findings included the presence of alveolar bone lysis (100%), positive contrast enhancement (93%), and presence of cortical bone thinning (78%)

Were more drastic changes on imaging correlated with more aggressive Histopathologic findings?

A

NO

Despite the variability noted on diagnostic imaging of CAA, especially regarding the severity of lytic extension associated with the tumor, there was little variability on histopathology.

Q

What are the differences between CAA and conventional ameloblastoma on imaging?

A

Conventional ameloblastoma tends to have highly consistent imaging findings and are almost always consistent with a locular/cystic intraosseous mass, which does not tend to aggressively infiltrate adjacent tissue past the margin of the cyst.

Within the present study, CAA was rarely associated with cystic structures (11%) and presented with equal frequency in a predominantly extraosseous or intraosseous location. Furthermore, CAA had highly variable computed tomographic findings especially in regard to severity of bone lysis, with the level of invasion dictated in part by its predominant location
