it was destroyed in 586bc and again in 70ad until it was rebuilt as a synagogue as the main place of service.
how often do jews pray?
they are encouraged to pray three times a day, once in the morning, once in the afternoon and once in the evening.
why are synagogue services so important?
they unite the local community, its a reminder of the global community jews are part of, jews pray toward israel.
how many times is the torah read in othodox services?
four times a week.
what is kashrut?
food that jews are allowed to eat.
why is kashrut important?
because it brings holiness into everyday life.
what preparations are made for shabbat?
candles are lit, a special meal is prepared the night before and the house is cleaned.
what are the four typed of private prayer?
daily prayer, individual prayer, constant prayer and shabbat prayer.
what is the purpose of morning prayer?
to thank god for their bodies, they also recite the shema and amidah.
