What is job analysis?

A

Process of gathering information on all the jobs in the organization using interviews, questionnaires, observation, diaries/logs, electronic monitoring

then organize info into a database then use the info to make org and HR decisions

A

exempt from overtime because they are a full time yearly salary earner rather than an hourly wage earner

  • skills factors (education, experience, communication, etc.)
  • effort factors (physical, mental demands - for BFORs)

What are competencies? Types?

A

= The knowledge, skills, abilities, attitude, and behaviors that identify a successful employee. they can be learned!

Types:

  • core competencies: essential ones for entire org, needed for all jobs so can move around
  • functional comps: necessary for all jobs in job family (ex: production)
  • job comps: necessary for one specific job (ex: widget production worker)
