When and what was the hampton court conference
1604 - Hampton court conference - James I clashed with Puritian leaders over religous matters and the power of the King. Aimed to address the religious divisions within the CoE and discuss the greivences of the Puritans. James clashed with Puritans and defended the existing structure of the church. While it did not result in significant consessions for the puritains, it highlighted the growing tensions within the Church. Demonstrated the Kings commitment to the established chiurch and resistance to major religious reforms.
When and what was the Great Contract
1610 - Great contract negotiations between James I and Parliament, aiming to establish a new system of taxation, but ultimatly failing. The king would relinquish certain fedual rights in exchange for a regular parliamentary grant to support the monarchy. Aimed to provide a stable source of income for the crown and and reduce dependace on Royal taxation
