Q

A01 & A03 (is)

A

A01:
- considered reductionist due to memory defined by simple components e.g. LTM (tulving) comprised of semantic and episodic, no relationsjip between stores, or MSM, we have SM, STM & LTM stores, have specific capacity duration + encoding.
- Measures used to investiagte memeory reductionist e.g. measuring recall ability of triagrams to see duration of info

A03:
- HM - semantic intact, episodic impaired
- peterson and peterson - used the recall of triagrams in order to measure the duration of STM

Q

A01 & A03 (isn’t)

A

A01:
- however, cognitive holistic e.g. WMM built on foundations of MSM explains memory as complex system, combines previously stored knowledge with new incoming info to enable memory deal with range of incoming info in all forms e.g. visual, spatial, auditory + verbal.
- Moreover, schema theory considers individual’s environment + influemce on memory cell

A03:
- Episodic buffer introduced in 2000
- KF - difference types of STM
- Bartlett war of the ghosts study

Q

judgement

A

Overall, CP can be seen as reductionist in explaining human memory as most theories and studies fail to recognise more one factor affecting memory and how it works
