Ischaemic heart disease Flashcards
two spectrums of associated symptoms of IHD
Stable Ischaemic heart disease: manifests as stable angina, predictable pattern of pain
Acute coronary syndrome: life threatening conditions including unstable angina, NSTEMI, STEMI
investigations at presentation
ECG
coronary angiography - contrast dye and radiation exposue, allows follow up with angioplasty and stenting
cardiac stress test
chest x-ray - exclude other differentials eg. pneumothorax or pneumonia
echocardiogram - cardac ultrasound to detect ischaemic changes, note wall or left ventricular function, ejection fraction may be decreased
acute anginal chest pain could mimic
acute pericarditis
myocarditis
pericardial effusion
acute bronchitis
pneumonia
pleuritis
pleural effusionn
aortic dissecton
GORD
