Noble women held a important position in Celtic society. Under brehon laws they could own land. Boudicca was a Celtic warrior queen in Britain. Noble men could have more than 1 wive and divorce was often. Most women weren’t noble and spent there time doing cooking spinning weaving and taking care of children

A

Ring forts , crannógs , hill forts and promontory forts. Hill forts: we’re like ring forts but much bigger and built on a hill archaeologist think these were mostly used for events such as religious events.

Describe farming in Celtic Ireland

A

Farming was very important in Celtic life. Sheep cattle and pig were kept. The were killed for meat and used their skin for clothes. The animals were killed in autumn and preserved with salt for winter. He meat was cooked in big cauldrons. Barley wheat and oats were grown. Oats made porridge and wheat was grounded into flour with a rotary quern stone, the flour was then used to make bread.

How did the celts dress

A

They wore linen and wool and rich men wore knee-length linen tunic called léine which was tied with a croc. Women wore ankle length linen tunics too. In winter both genders wore woollen cloaks (brats) pinned at the shoulder with a gold/silver brooch . Both genders also wore make made form berries and herbs and they also wore gold torcs. Poor men wore woollen trousers and poor women wore plain woollen tunics
