Monastic treasures in early Christian Ireland

A

Monasteries grew in size and wealth fro AD700. The inks began to creat some beautiful work of art,they used bronze silver gold and jewels some examples are the Ardagh chalice and Tara brooch The monks also did lovely manuscripts in the Latin off the gospels for e.g the book of durrow and the book of Kells , discovered in the 1860s
