What is IPR
.It is a muscarinic antagonist - cause bronchodialation.
.It targets muscarinic receptors that are found in the lungs, heart, eyes, bladder etc.
When do we use IPR
.Acute, severe, or life threatening asthma
.Acute asthma unresponsive to salbutamol
.Exacerbation of COPD unresponsive to salbutamol
Contraindications of IPR
None in emergency settings
Cautions of IPR
. Pts with glaucoma
. Pregnancy and breastfeeding
. Prostate hyperplasia
. If pt has COPD limit oxygen with nebuliser to 6 minutes
Side effects of IPR
.Nausea
.Dry mouth
.Tachycardia
.Paroxysmal tightness in chest
.Allergic reaction
Dose and administration of IPR
.Nebulised with oxygen on 6-8L
.Adult 500mcg
.No repeat dose
.Children:
1mth-18mth = 125mcg-250mcg
18mth-11yrs = 250mcg
