What is aspirin
A
- COX (cyclooxygenase) inhibitor, with inhibition of platelet aggregation
-Anti-platelet aggregator and reduces clot formation

What is Cyclooxygenase Inhibitor (COX)
A
COX is an enzyme responsible for the formation of Prostaglandins (fatty hormones)

Contraindications of aspirin
A
.Known Allergy
.Active GI bleed
.Haemophillia or clotting disorder
.Severe hepatic failure
.<16yrs old causes Reye Syndrome

Cautions of aspirin
A
- Asthma Patient (Aspirin induced asthma)
- Pregnancy
- Renal failure
- Gastric Ulcer
- On anticoagulants
- Moderate Hepatic Failure

Patient must chew the tablet
Effects are seen in 15-60 minutes
