GLOBE meaning
Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness
What is the aim of the GLOBE project?
Their aim was to investigate how cultural values are related to organizational practices, leadership, ecnomic competitiveness of societies and the human condition of its members
GLOBE measures each of the dimensions in two ways:
As a practice or ‘as it is’ & as a value or ‘how it should be’

Uncertainty Avoidance
The extent to which members of an organization or society strive to avoid uncertainty by relying on social norms, rituals, and bureaucratic practices to decrease the unpredictability of future events that could affect the operations in a negative way
Power Distance
The degree to which members of an organization or society expect and agree that power should be stratified and concentrated at the higher levels of an organization or government
Institutional Collectivism
The degree to which organizational and societal institutions encourage and reward collective distribution of resources and collective action
In-Group Collectivism
The degree to which individuals express pride, loyalty and cohesiveness in their organizations or families
Gender Egalitarianism
The extent to which an organization or society minimizes gender role differences and gender discrimination
Assertiveness
The degree to which individuals in organizations of societies are assertive, confrontational, and agressive in social relationships
Future Orientation
The extent to which organizations and societies engage in future-oriented behavior, such as planning, investing in the future, and delaying individual or collective gratification
Performance Orientation
The extent to which an organization or society encourages and rewards group members performance improvement and excellence
Humane Orientation
The degree to which individuals in organizations or societies encourage and reward individuals for being fair, altruistic, friendly, generous, caring and kind to others
