Who is a witness?
Witnesses are people who have info about an offence or offender. Either eyewitness, present at the time or peripheral info.
Includes victims and indirect victims
Who is a suspect?
In relation to an offence, is someone who is believed to have or may have committed that offence whether or not they have been charged or there there is good cause to suspect of having committed that offence
Who can I question and do they have to answer - explain
You may ask anyone questions when investigating an offence, they do not have to answer.
You cannot compel a person to answer questions if they refuse you imply that they must unless under an act.
What must I explain to a suspect about the reason for an interview?
Fairly inform the suspect what they are being interviewed about and the type of charge they may face

Dont cross-examinate
If they have not been arrested or detained, they must be told they are free to leave.
