  1. assistance to hold the head up
  2. make sure that the animal is asleep
  3. make sure you can see the glottis
  4. insert the tip and rotate
  5. topical anaesthetic
  6. check the placement and secure
  7. inflate the cuff

explain the cuff on a ET tube

A

high volume, low pressure cuff which is a safety consideration.
this is to minimise the trachea wall or the mucosa of the trachea becoming damaged or ruptured.
