anaesthetic machine Flashcards
why is the anaesthetic machine so important
it allows us to deliver inhalational agents to the patient at a steady flow and allows us to adjust it according to the needs of the patient
what is the gas cylinder for?
it is a carrier gas which is stored under pressure
O2, N2O, CO2
what is the pressure gauge for?it is a carrier gas which is stored under pressure
O2, N2O, CO2
this shows how much gas is in the gas cylinder
what is the pressure reducing valve for?
reduced the amount of gas that is coming out of the cylinder to make it easier for us to control
what is the flowmeter used for?
this shows the amount of gas that is being given to the patient
what is the vaporiser used for?
contains a liquid volatile agent that is mixed with the carrier gas
what is the gas outlet used for?
this is where the gas anaesthetic connects to the patient ie. the circuit
what are the safety feature of an anaesthetic machine
pin-index cylinders pipeline connectors o2 alarm vaporiser key filler emergency o2 flush button
