there was the wheat glut

farmers overfarmed land and then a hot dry windy summer eroded the top soil
next were grasshoppers infestation and finally wheatworms

1933 average farm produced 66 bushels

land that isn’t ideal for farming
used during ww1
turns into dry soil years later
