What is an interview?
An interview can be conducted over the phone however most involve face to face interaction.
What are the two main types of interviews?
Structured and unstructured
What is a structured interview
They are made up of pre determined set of questions that are asked in a fixed order. They are like questionnaires but done either over the phone or face to face.
2 Strengths of a structured interview
Easy to replicate
Reduces differences between interviewers
A limitation of a structured interview
Can’t elaborate points
What is an unstructured interview
They work like a conversation, there are no set questions. There is however a general aim that a certain topic will be discussed. The interviewee is encouraged to expand and elaborate on the answer by the interviewer.

Insight into the worldview of the interviewee
2 Limitations of an unstructured interview
Data hard to analyse
Social desirability- interviewees may lie for a reason
