Correlations Flashcards
What is a positive correlation
Both the subjects increase
What is a negative correlation
One subject decreases as the other increases
What is correlation co-efficient
It is a scale from -1 to +1
What does -0.7 mean on a correlation co-efficient
It is a strong negative correlation
What does 0.7 mean on a correlation co- efficient
It is a strong positive correlation
What is a correlation?
It is a mathematical technique in which a researcher investigates association between two variables, called co-variables
What are the evaluation points for correlations
Strengths- quick and economical to carry out
no need for controlled environments
Can use secondary data which means less timing consuming than experiments.
Limitations- Can only tell us that they are related and not how
An untested variable is causing the relationship between the two co variables which we are interested
