Interviews that are made up of pre-determined questions that are asked in a fixed order
What are unstructured interviews?
There are no set questions and it is more like a conversation
What is a semi-structured interview?
An interview that is more likely to encounter in everyday life, there are set questions but interviewers can ask for follow up questions
What are 2 advantages of structured interviews?
- Easy to replicate due to the standardised format
- Reduces differences between interviewers
What is a disadvantage of structured interviews?
The interviewers can’t deviate from the topic so limits the richness of the data collected
What is an advantage of unstructured interviews?
More flexibility as interviewers can ask follow up questions
