Q

What is the process of swallowing food ?

A
  • food passes through the pharynx on the way to the oesophagus. A fish’s oesophagus expands easily, which allows the fish to swallow its food whole.
  • Some fish have their oesophagus or stomach enlarged into a gizzard. The gizzard grinds food into small pieces before it passes into the intestines.
