What is the difference between reliability and validity?
Reliability: How consistent and stable results are
Validity: How well the test measures what it was created to measure

Your score goes downhill as you age - fluid
Crystalized gets better - knowledge about the world, past experiences
What things in the environment can affect your IQ?
Neurotoxins (lead paint, alcohol), Nutrition (breastfeeding), Education (head start, schooling), rearing environment, birth order and family size, cultural specifity)
What is the Flynn Effect? What causes it?
In industrialized countries, IQ is raising by 3 points per decade
Improved nutrition, smaller families, better education, increased complexity of the modern world, increased test taking skills
What is Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences?
Theorized that there are eight kinds of intelligences; based partly on evidence from savant syndrome or the presence of unusual talents in people who are profoundly mentally disabled
What is fluid vs. crystallized intelligence?
Fluid: Ability to tackle new and unusual situations
Crystallized: Accumulated knowledge
