Stratum Corneum
outermost layer of epidermis, also called the horny layer
Stratum Lucidum
clear layer of the skin (part of epidermis) that is normally only found on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet
Stratum Granulosum
part of epidermis, granular layer of cells that accumulate to types of granules; keratohyalin and lamellated granules
Stratum Spinosum
part of epidermis, composed of prickle cells
Stratum Basale (Stratum Germinativum)
part of epidermis, deepest of the five layers, made of basal cells
Stratum Papillare
part of dermis, thin superficial layer interlocked with the epidermis
Stratum Reticulare
part of dermis, thick layer of dense irregular connective tissue
