Integumentary Flashcards
Is a layer of epithelial tissue that can be further divided into sublayers
Epidermis
The second layer of the skin
Dermis
The hypodermis hypoderm, superficial fascia is the lower, most part layer of integumentary system
Subcutaneous tissue
Commonly called horny or leather later
Forms, the outer most layer of the epidermidis when skin is subjected to excess amount of abrasion or friction
Stratum corneum
The clear layer
Life directly beneath the Stratham corneum, but is difficult to see in thinner skin
Stratum lucidum
A thin layer of cells in the epidermis line above the stratum spinosum, and below the stratum corneum
Consists of two or three layers of flattened cells
Stratum granulosum
Spiny or prickly Layer
Consists of several layers of prickly horse, funny shaped cells that are polyhedral in structure
Stratum spinosum
The innermost layer regenerative layer
Is the deepest, and most importantly, or of the skin, because it contains only cells of the epidermidis that are capable of dividing mitosis
Stratum Germinativum
When is responsible for producing skin color in the germinativum
What is responsible for variations of the skin pigmentation
Melanocytes and melanin
Involve just the epidermidis
First-degree burn
Involve both epidermidis in the dermis
Second-degree burns
Full thickness burns the epidermis and dermis are completely destroyed
Third-degree burns
Consist of layers of overlapping scale like cells. It’s a coat.
Outermost part of the hair shaft
Cuticle
Principal portion of the hair
Responsible for strength in Leicester city of the hair
The innermost layer of the hair, surrounded by the cuticle and Medulla
Cortex
Middle of central part of the hair
Medulla
