Integration Flashcards
1
Q
What is integration?
A
The reverse process of differentiation
2
Q
How do you integrate?
A
dy/dx = aX^b + z y = a/b+1X^b+1 + zx + c
3
Q
Why do you +c in integration?
A
Because you don’t know whether a value has been added or taken away
4
Q
What is the notation for integration?
A
f x^n dx
f - integration
x^n - expression
dx - integrate with respect to x
5
Q
How do you solve Indefinite Integrals?
A
P(w, z) f'(x) = aX^b + d f(x) = a/b+1X^b+1 + dx +c substitute z = a/b+1(w) + d(w) + c solve for c and put in equation
6
Q
How do you solve definite integrals? (area)
A

7
Q
What do you do if your integration values are both positive and negative?
A
Do them separately
positive to 0
0 to negative
8
Q
How do you solve the area between a curve and a line?
A
Find the area of the whole region and then subtract the area of the curve (definite integral)
