Algebra Long Division, Factor Theorem, Algebra Fractions Flashcards
1
Q
How do you do Algebra Long Division?
A
Put on top whatever ex needs to be multiplied by to get ax^3. The multiply ex + f by that answer and subtract from ax3 + bx2 + cx + d. Repeat until it equals 0
2
Q
What is the method for Algebra Long Division?
A
(ax^3 + bx^2 + cx + d) / (ex + f)
______________
ex + f /ax^3 + bx^2 + cx + d
3
Q
Explain how to do Factor Theorem.
A
Show that ex + f is a factor of ax^3 + bx^2 + cx + d
Substitute (x = -f/e)
Solve – if it equals 0 it is a factor

Q
How do you simplify algebra fractions?
A
Factorise the numerator and the denominator. Then cancel out the factors.
