Instruments Flashcards
Concerning VORs, what is the only positive method of identification and what is the course accuracy?
-Morse Code Identifier or Recorded Automatic Voice ID
-Course Accuracy +/- 1 degree not to exceed 2.5 degrees
MIA (Minimum IFR Altitude)
-Altitudes published for standard instrument approach procedures
-min 2000 mountains / 1000 non-mountain
MEA (Minimum Enroute Altitude)
-Lowest published altitude between radio fixes which assures acceptable NAV signal coverage and meets obstacle clearance requirements between those fixes
MOCA (Minimum Obstruction Clearance Altitude)
-The lowest published altitude in effect between radio fixes on VOR airways, obstacle clearance requirements and assures acceptable NAV signal coverage only within 25 statue miles
Define DA/DH
The height at which a decision must be made during a precision approach to continue the approach or execute missed approach
OROCA (Off Route Obstruction Clearance Altitude)
Off route altitude which provides clearance 1,000’ buffer / 2000’ buffer in mountains terrain. May not provide signal coverage from navaids
MRA (Minimum Reception Altitude)
The lowest altitude required to receive adequate signals to determine specific VHF omnirange / tactical air navigation fixes
MCA (Minimum Crossing Altitude)
The lowest altitude at certain fixes at which an aircraft must cross when proceeding in the direction of a higher minimum enroute instrument flight rules altitude (MEA)
MVA (Minimum Vectoring Altitude)
The lowest mean sea level altitude at which an IFR aircraft will be vectored by a radar controller, except as otherwise authorized for radar approaches, departures and missed approaches
