  1. A supported server platform as defined on the VMware Compatibility Guide at http://www.vmware.com/compatibility
  2. Two CPU cores
  3. NX/XD bit enabled for the CPU in host BIOS
  4. 4 GB physical RAM
  5. Hardware virtualization Intel VT-x or AMD RVI to support 64-bit VMs
  6. One or more gigabits of faster Ethernet controllers
  7. SCSI disk or a local, nonnetwork RAID LUN with unpartitioned space

ESXi uses coordinated universal time (UTC) and, therefore, does not have the need or capability for time zone configuration.

Configuring DNS and Routing on an ESXi Host

A
  1. Log on to your vSphere Web Client.
  2. Select Home, Hosts and Clusters, and then click your host.
  3. Click the Manage tab and then the Networking tab.
  4. In the blue column, choose TCP/IP Configuration.
  5. Select the system stack that you want to configure; in this case, configure the Default stack.
  6. Click the pencil icon above the System Stack column.
  7. Configure the appropriate DNS information on DNS Configuration, and then change to Routing to configure the default gateway of the stack, as shown in Figure 3-3.
