Q

vCenter Server

A
The vCenter Services server provides for the vCenter Server,
as well as:
1. vSphere Web Client
2. vCenter Inventory Service
3. vSphere Auto Deploy
4. vSphere ESXi Dump Collector
5. vSphere Syslog Collector.

Embedded: The vCenter Server, with all these services, can be installed on the same “box,” physical or virtual, as the PSC. This type of installation is referred to as embedded, and is probably the best choice for a very small organization.

Linked: Another option is to install the vCenter Server on a separate “box” than the PSC. This can provide for better performance in a larger organization.

Enhanced Linked Mode: One PSC, multiple vCenter Servers.

Enhanced Linked Mode with HA: Two PSCs, multiple vCenter Servers. Load Balancer between PSCs and vCenter Servers.
