What is an acute injury?

A
  • An injury that is caused suddenly.
  • Pain is felt immediately.
  • Pain is severe.
    e.g. Dislocation, concussion, sprain, strain, fractures (hairline and spiral etc).

What is a chronic injury?

A
  • An injury that develops overtime.
  • Also referred to as a overuse injury.
  • Develop slowly.
  • Often ignored by performers which makes the condition worse.
    e.g. tennis elbow, Achilles tendonitis, stress fracture.

Symptoms of an acute injury….

A
  • Sudden severe pain.
  • Swelling.
  • Unable to pair weight.
  • Restricted movement.
  • Weakness.
  • Protruding bone/ joint visibly out of place.

  • The muscle becomes fatigued + the bone takes the bearing and breaks.
