Achilles’ tendonitis

A

Causes pain and inflammation of tendon

Located at back of ankle connected to gastrocnemius and used for walking running and jumping

Stress fractures

A

Most common in weight bearing bones in legs when there is an increase in amount and intensity of exercise

Happen when muscles become fatigued so can’t absorb the added shock of exercise so transfer the stress overload over to the bone and results in a tiny crack

Muscles and tendons become inflamed and tiny tears occur on outside of elbow

A

Hopping,jumping and balancing exercises to restore lost proprioceptors and teach the body to control position of injure joint subconsciously.

Sprained ankles are common sporting injury and proprioceptors exercises are performed in a balance board for rehibilitation.

A

Resistance of some kind eg free weight sor resistance machines or body weight prepares body for exercise reducing injury

Hyperbaric chambers

A

Reduce recovery time for injury

Chamber is pressurised and there is 100% oxygen this increases the amount that can be breathed in so more is diffused into injured area. The excess oxygen diffused into blood plasma and reduced swelling and pressure and stimulates white blood cell activity

Cryotherapy

A

Use of cold temperatures RICE LIMITS PAIN AND SWELLING

Hydrotherapy

A

Warm water and used to improve blood circulation. 35-37 degreees. The buoyancy of the water helps to support body weight so there is less load on joints.
