A break or crack in bone
Two types : open and closed
Closed - stay within skin
Open - worse as can lead to infection

Very painful due to pressure on nerves
Where end of bones are forced out of position
Visible to see
Contact sports
Strains
Tear or pulls in muscles
When muscle stretched too far
From sudden acceleration
Sprains
Ligaments over stretched
Due to twisting and turning joints too far
Often seen in ankles
Chronic injuries (3)
Achilles tendinitis
Stress fracture
Tennis elbow
Symptoms of chronic injuries (3)
Pain when competing
Dull ache at rest
Swelling
Achilles tendinitis
Inflammation of tendons from overuse
Located at back of the ankle
Due to running/jumping so common injury
Stress fracture
Common in weight bearing bones
Sudden increase in activity too quickly
Muscles get tired so dont take impact properly and puts strain on bones
Results in small crack
Tennis elbow
In muscles attached to elbow
Muscles and tendons inflamed and sore
