What to do En route to the scene?
A
Obtain
- a description of the subject
- a description of the subjects vehicle (if any)
- the suspects direction of travel
- a description of any weapon
- Watch for vehicles that may have come from scene.
- Discuss areas of responsibility at the scene. Who will deal with what.
- plan vehicle approach to ensure safety.
- safe forward point. Where you can safely park and where others can park.
- consider your options

What must you do on arrival?
A
- advise Comms of your arrival and obtain acknowledgement
- park in safe, clear area
- discuss approach to the house, building or scene
- always take a portable radio and touch at night
- STOP! Take note of what’s happening, where and who is involved. (Brief situation report to Comms)
- if needed, advice Comms of safe arrival point
- ask anybody near what’s happening, where and who is involved
- ask for your informant

When Obtaining information you must?
A
Locate the informant and
- obtain brief facts
- ask the informant/witness to identify the victim and or the offender.
- give the offender whereabouts
- location of the scene and victim
- keep the informant occupied and in one place
