Produces lots of sticky mucus Clogs up throat Can cause pneumonia if it gets in the lungs Coats the pancreas Can’t digest food
What is the maximum age (roughly) for someone to live to with cystic fibrosis?
14-15 years old
Do parents have to have cystic fibrosis for their children to have it?
No, their recessive allele normally has the code for cystic fibrosis but they don’t have it
What happens in Huntington’s disease?
No motor control
Your nervous system breaks down
Can lead to dementia
Caused by dominant allele
What happens in sickle cell anaemia?
Changes the shape of red blood cells
Lack of iron
What is the positive of sickle cell anaemia?
Immunity to malaria
