what is a phenotype
physical expression of the genotype within the environment eg brown eyes or blue eyes
what is a genotype
the genetic make up of an individual eg BB, Bb or bb
what are alleles
different version of the same gene
define homozygous
2 of the same alleles eg BB or bb
define heterozygous
2 different alleles eg Bb
what does complete dominance mean
a trait can either be dominant or recessive
define dominant traits
are always expressed and are denoted with a capital letter eg BB and Bb
define recessive traits
will only be expressed if there are 2 and are denoted with lower case eg bb
what is a carrier
someone who carries the recessive gene for a disease but since its recessive it is hidden by the dominant allele meaning they just carry it
