What is cystic fibrosis?
It’s a recessive disease. Some people do not have cystic fibrosis themselves, but are ‘carriers’ which means they have 1 copy of the disease allele
What is mitosis?
It’s when the cell makes a copy of each chromosome then divided and each new identical cell is a full set of chromosomes
What is stage 1, 2 and 3 of Mitosis?
It’s when DNA forms 2 copies each chromosome and then mitosis happens (the nucleus divides) and the cell divides into 2 identical cells
How many chromosomes does a human have?
46 and 23 matching pairs
What is selective breeding?
It’s when humans select parents with the desired characteristics to breed together (animals) in hope that the offspring will have the desired characteristics
What is evolution?
It’s the theory that all of today’s species have developed from simply life forms over 3 billion years ago
